Being a wedding photographer, I have seen so many variations of beautiful ceremonies – private ceremonies at homes, ceremonies at the reception venues, or at a local park, beach or memorable place to the couple. One of my favorites happen to be the marriage bureau at the City Clerk’s Office. There’s something so traditional and classic about standing before the NYC officiant, exchanging your vows and signing your papers right there at the official record-keeper of all marriages. It is also the place where you see so many couples come together to start their next chapter in life. We had the pleasure of being part of Janette + Tony’s ceremony at the NYC City Clerk’s Office and it was great seeing their anticipation and excitement. After the beautiful ceremony, we visited Central Park to capture some of the first portraits of the couple as newlyweds. This is just the beginning of their many celebrations and we’re looking forward to the wedding reception later this fall. Congratulations again to you both!

Central Park is one of New York City’s most popular and visited parks. We recently visited Central Park to capture Leilani + Kristian’s engagement session on a beautiful fall afternoon. Central Park is a beautiful choice for a fall shoot, as the vivid colors from the fall foliage is quite amazing. One of our favorite moments from this session was during the sunset hours – we were able to capture many lovely moments of the couple and the lighting was just so flattering to work with. Central Park Surprise Proposal Engagement Photos | Brandon + Whitney

One of my favorite moments when meeting with a couple for the first time is hearing about their story – the story of how they met, how they got together, and of course, the proposal. For Whitney + Brandon, I was lucky enough to witness that proposal firsthand (hidden from a distance and through a lens of course, but still, firsthand!). When Brandon first contacted me for a surprise proposal shoot, I couldn’t wait! A surprise proposal is a moment that you’ll never want to forget, a moment that you’ll want to relive forever. It was evident that Brandon put a lot of thought and heart into planning this proposal, and the look on Whitney’s face when she received the ring was worth so much more.

Whitney + Brandon visited New York for just a couple of days. With Brandon’s meticulous planning, we started with the surprise proposal on Friday evening at Brooklyn Bridge Park and resumed on Monday with an engagement shoot at Central Park. It was clearly evident at the time of the engagement session that both Whitney + Brandon were still floating on cloud nine. They only had eyes for each other!

Brooklyn Bridge Park and Central Park engagement photos | Danielle + Adam

I had the pleasure of visiting two of my favorite locations in New York City on this recent photo shoot. We started our session exploring Dumbo and worked around the neighboring Brooklyn Bridge Park. Despite the recent heatwave that we had, it did not stop us from having fun in the sun. Our second location was in Central Park, amidst all the runners in the park. Danielle + Adam are avid runners themselves, and it was great to hear all about their running experiences. When I used to run, I remember how much physical and mental strength was necessary to achieve my goal. I always have utmost respect and admiration for those who continue to run and stay dedicated to keep their goals. Thank you both for allowing me to capture these wonderful moments of you two.

With 52 acres of breath-taking outdoor scenery and structural landscaping, Brooklyn Botanic Garden is a memorable bridal party photography site. Couples can pick from the Japanese-Hill-and-Pond Garden with its architectural elegance, the Cranford Rose Garden with a horticultural showcase of over 1,400 rose varieties, or the aesthetic artistry of the Italian style Osborne Garden, for a rare and unforgettable wedding photography session of romantic portraiture. Photography sessions are limited to 45 minutes, must be booked in advance, and require a $250.00 permit fee (20 people maximum). A rain date valid for one year is given in case of rain outs. Central Park is the largest and best-known scene for nuptials and wedding photography in New York City, and with 843 acres from which to choose, there is a sentimental site for every couple. Bridal parties can select one of the three Conservatory Gardens: French, Italian, or English, but should reserve early to ensure booking the garden of choice. Ceremony permits cost $400 while photo permits are $100. Wedding parties may use the Central Garden lawn for 30 minutes, but are limited to 25 people. Central Park has explicit guidelines regarding photo and film shoots on the property so be sure your wedding photographer is familiar with all regulations.
